Losing weight and getting in shape is a daily struggle for many people around the world who are either overweight or obese.  There are literally thousands of diet and weight-loss products on the market, with many of them promising outrageous results like “losing 40 pounds in 4 weeks” or “take this pill and watch the fat melt away.”  In reailty there is no silver bullet or magic pill when it comes to weight loss, but there is a new product called garcinia cambogia that can successfully be used to shed weight and burn fat when combined with increased exercise patterns and a lower overall caloric intake.

The weight loss properties of garcinia cambogia were discovered in the late 1990s by a group of researchers and scientists who were studying the fruit in Southeast Asia where it grows naturally.  The fruit, which is green in color and looks similar to a miniature pumpkin contains the compound hydroxycitric acid or HCA.  This compound is responsible for many of the weight loss properties which the fruit exudes. 

HCA works in a variety of ways to aid your body in burning fat and preventing additional fat from being created and stored on your body.  First it acts as a weight loss catalyst by inhibiting the citrate lyase enzyme in the body.  This enzyme is responsible for converting excess sugar and glucose in the body into stored fat.  Because HCA inhibits this enzyme from working to its fullest potential you will notice less of the food becomes converted into stored fat, which effectively reduces your body’s overall ability to create fat.
